Rule Number 1, you can trade crystals to your town guards @ the gates of town for more rank points to gain a new mission not available before, this is important cause some missions can be skipped so its nice to know, also allows missions not allowed yet to be opened.

Windurst Missions

Windurst
Missions
1-1

Talk to one of the gate guards and he sends you to the orastory in Windurst Port. Talk to one of the tarutarus on the stage to trigger a cut scene. Then head to East Sataburata and go to the entrance to the Inner Horutoto Ruins, in this case the Eastmost tower.

You may want to group up here. Down the stairs to the ruins, look for a cracked wall. You can go through here to get into the ruins. Follow along until you get to a gate. Enter there for another cut scene. After this, you need to search through the four different spheres until you find the cracked one (which one is is seems to be random for each party member). Loot it and bring it back to the Orastory to gain your rank.

1-2

After you get the mission from a gate guard, you have to go to the North building of the Manustery and talk to Apururu, taru NPC behind the counter on North side. Get a cut scene and obtain key items (6) dark orbs.

Go to the tower at SE corner of the East Sarutabaruta map and talk to the NPC inside the tower entrance. There's an NPC outside but he's not part of this mission. Get a cut scene and go down into the tower. You enter through a long tunnel of stairs and get to lower level at the West side of the map. Remember this because you have to go out from here too. You have to examine all 6 gizmos in the area. You get a cut scene at each one. 2 are behind cracked walls at the North and South of the map, midway between the corner gizmos. Once you have done all 6, go to the cracked wall in the East of the map, again midway between the corner gizmos, directly below where you came in. The entrance/exit runs above this area. There is a door that is locked and you can't get through but when you check it you get another cut scene and you have powered up the orbs you dropped at the 6 gizmos. Now you have to go back to all 6 gizmos and pick up the orbs you dropped off there. When you examine each gizmo, you get another cut scene. Once you have all 6, go back to the West of the map to be able to get to the tunnel/stairs that lead out. Once you surface you get another cut scene of Pore-Ohre confronting Cardians, all Aces. You get convinced to give them the orbs. Return to Windjurst Woods, the Manustery, and talk to Apururu again. You get a cut scene where she tells you the history of the Aces and how you could not fight them and this completes the mission.

1-3

After you talk to the guard, he sends you to the Rhinostary in Windurst Waters. Walk up to the roof and talk to Leepe Hoppe. He gives you food and water to take to Giddeus.

Head to Giddeus (NW Corner of West Sataburata). Look for two Yagutos. They are at opposite corners of the zone. Give them the food and drink and return to Leepe. Then report to the gate guard for Rank 2 and 1,000 Gil.

2-1

First talk to Tosuka-Porika in the Optistery in windurst waters (G-8). Then go outside the optistery and down the stairs to the Northeast of the building. Take the warp from Tonana (G-8) to windurst woods. Go see Nanaa Mihgo (J-3), and do the Glyph Hanger quest for the Shakhrami Map before heading out if you haven't already.

Head to the Shakhrami Maze, which can be found at the very Northeast corner of Tahrongi Canyon (K-5). Once inside, go down the tunnel until you reach a large room. This first room has bones, worms, and goblins. The worms are not aggressive. Take the tunnel to the left. You will reach another large room. This room has worms, goblins, and scorpions. The goblins and scorpions are aggressive. Follow the left wall until you come to two tunnels; take the one on the right (G-6). You will reach a small opening, again stay to the left. The next room you reach is the room you seek (H-5). There are several fossils in this room, but everyone in my group got the coral from the same fossil. This fossil is to the far right between two pits. There are many mobs in this area such as maze scorpions and some mean crawlers. I suggest taking at least a full solid group of levels 12-13. Having two white mages would not be a bad idea...

Now head back to Nanaa Mihgo in windurst woods (J-3). Before proceeding any further, I HIGHLY recommend completing this quick and easy map quest. Then, head over to the Inner Horutoto Ruins in East Sarutabaruta (J-7). Once inside, go through the cracked wall (G-8). You go to a new map at this point. Then go through the Mahogany Door (G-7). NOTE: the Mahogany Door is not actually at these coordinates. In fact, it is not on the map at all. But at these coordinates you will find the hallway that leads to the Mahogany Door.

After the cut scene, head to the "House of the Hero" in windurst walls (G-3). After the cut scene, go back to Tosuka-Porika to finish the mission.

2-2

After talking to the gate guard head to the Aurastery and talk to Moreno-Teono. The Minster wants to test his students in Taronghi Canyon, but he needs a benchmark by which to compare his students to adventurers such as yourself. You are to directed to Taronghi Canyon and exterminate as many monsters as you can in 1 hour. This is a TIMED mission and you have to be quick getting there. Warp or Warp scroll is a good idea tohave.

Try to exterminate 30+ monsters in less then a hour AND make your way back to the Aurastery. This is a cumulative mission - so more the merrier! In other words, having more people CANNOT hurt your chances in finishing this quest on time.

If you donate enough crystals you can skip this mission.

This Mission is Skippable

This is a VERY Long quest and is divided into TWO parts that will VARY depending on WHICH one city you visted first. I suggest completing either sub-job quest (from Vera, Mhaura OR Isacio, Selbina) before attempting this. Getting a Chocobo License and the maps to Palborough Mines/Ghelsba/Giddeus is advised. In addition, the maps to all the main cities are a good idea.

After talking to the Gate Guard talk to Kupipi in Heaven's Tower (Windurst Walls). She will explain the mission. You might want to start the "
Rock Racketeer" quest from Windurst before leaving town. Bid a tearful good-bye to Windurst - you won?t be back for a long while.

Bastok - The Palborough Mines

The Windurstian embassy is located in the top of the Metal Works. Talk to the Ambassador to receive this part of the mission.

Then head to the President's office (K-8) to talk to Pius and learn the importance of the of Mythril Sand to the beastmen. Lastly, meet up with Grohm in the Metalworks Craftsmen's Eatery where he will tell you the procedures and happenings in Palborough Mines. Before heading out, you might want to buy some more "pickaxes" from in the item shop (H-7) in Bastok Mines. In additon, buy a map of Palborough Mines in Bastok Markets.

Head off to Palborough Mines (North Gustaburg, K-3). After entering, go to I-8 and use the elevator to get to the 3rd floor. Now head to I-9 on the map. You'll find a spot where you can do some digging. Trade the "pickaxe" to that spot. You may fail a few times, so keep trying until you get some mine gravel. NOTE: this is the same spot for the "Rock Racketeer" quest. Note: this is very difficult if on solo at lvl 20, it is recommended that you party with at least one other person.

After getting the item, go to the 2nd level to the middle of the map (I-6) by going around the right side of the map. You'll see a machine with a lid and a lever. Trade the mine gravel you got to the lid, and then pull the lever.

Continue the path to the left side of the map, around and back to the area under the machine. You'll see a lever there too. Pull it and receive an item. Go back to the embassy and trade that item to the Ambassador.

San D'oria - The Dragon
In Northern D'oria head to the Consulate of Windurst. First of all talk to be the Ambassador. You will be told to talk to Halver in Chateau d'Oraguille. You will need a Ghelsba Outpost map. As well you might want to start "The General's Secret" quest from Curilla (Temple Knights' Quarters, Chateau d'Oraguille) since the water is right by the end of this mission. To prepare make sure you have a FULL party and you are ready to fight the dragon. If you have anyone over level 25 make sure they have under level 25 equipment since they will de-level for the boss.

Head to Fort Ghelsba and go all the way to the top. There are some huts, behind which is a tunnel leading into the mountains. (You can also get here from Yughott Grotto by hugging the wall to the left as soon as you enter Ghelsba). At Fort Ghelsba you need to head into one of the huts at J-8 to get to the last area - another "Grotto". Once you enter the top of the mountains there are two exits -- one to the burning circle and the other to the springs - "The General's Secret" quest.

Prepare yourself and enter the burning circle. There are two monsters a floating eye and then the dragon. Don't bother with buffs since the dragon will remove them all in the first few seconds. Kill the floating eye first, then the dragon.

Once done you are sitting in the springs. Heal up and head back to he Consulate of Windurst and pick up your Adventurers Letter.

Finally, battered but defiant, make your way back to Heaven's Tower in Windurst and to receive your well earned rewards.

Congratulations on RANK 3 and 3000gil!

Map of the mines:
Follow the violet/purple trail (you will know what the squiggles are when you get to these places), nothing along this path is more then about level 10, and if you are 16+ I doubt it will aggro. When you get to A, go to the second map (Floor 2) where it is marked A. When you get to the red path this is where the npcs get to level 15-17 or so, they will be too-weak to easy/low eva/reg def at level 20, the quadavs are pathetic and you shouldn't have much trouble, even if you are a thief, pop a kabob to breeze through it, but watch for links. Follow the red path and you will reach the machine, throw the ore in the lid, and yank the lever. Follow the yellow path (kinda hard to see, but it is the same as the red) back to the room where the nasty quadavs started and take the green path, this is just a bunch of non-aggro bettles, run by em to the bottom of the machine, yank the lever and get your sand. Now just follow the green path back, slip through the higher level room, and then the purple path and you are done, go talk to the consul guy and head to san d'oria.

This Mission is Not Skippable

Hand in 12-18 crystals or so from empty rank to receive mission, I turned in 18 and got it no problem. ( I did this mission as a red and used sneak/invis and bought a scroll of warp to return. If you don't have invis/sneak you might want to buy some oils and powders )

After getting it go to the star sybil tree in windurst walls. Go and talk to Kupipi the taru clerical assistant you talked to for the dragon mission. She will give you a key item that lets you go upstairs.

Enter the second level via the doors near Kupipi and go all the way up to the very top level, you don't need to talk to any of the taru on the second level.

At the top talk to the guard named Rhy Epocan, this will trigger a cut scene with Semih Lhafihna and Ajido-Marujido.
She will tell you to follow him.

Use the transporter ( blue light near where you talk to the guard ) to get back to the first level so you can exit.

Now go to the Orastry in Port Windurst and talk to Hakkurur-Rinkuru. He will tell you that the minister has gone to Castle Oztroja.

Since you are in windurst port, stop by the star onion kids and get the 4th mission from them, it will be about the cat burglar and a ghost etc, and they want a key from the minister. Nothing will show up in quest log yet, but don't worry as long as they tell you about the ghost and the need for the item from the minister you are ok.

The next step is to Choco to Castle Oztroja which is located in L-8 of the Meriphataud Mountauns. ( Map of the castle can be bought in windurst woods from the map vendor there for 3000 gil )

Inside the castle, head to the door at J-8 and use the lever there to open a trap door. (You must be standing between the two levers to open the trap door)I used invis/sneak to get to the location, though at level 30 most were easy prey. Letting a yag turn his back to me I cancled invis and hit the lever. This triggers a cut scene with you and the minister down in a lower level.

When the scene is over check the floor, you will see a circle that is targetable on the floor, click it and you receive the old ring key item.

At this point I used a warp scroll to head back to town so I can't help you on getting out from there.

Once in town go back to Heavens Tower in Windurst Walls and talk to Rhy Epocan again to trigger the final cut scene and finish the mission.

After talking to the gate guard head to the Heaven's Tower again to meet the Star Sybil's handmaiden. She explains that she wants you to travel to the tower in East Sarubaruta and open a the 3 Mage Gate. You can do the "Making the Grade" quest from Fuepepe (Aurastery, Windurst Waters) for the ASPIR scroll at the same time (well WORTH it). Your party MUST consist of at least one of EACH of the following: Black Mage, White Mage and Red Mage.

Go to the north-eastern Horutoto tower and hug the wall to your right to find the Cracked Wall (G-8). Go inside and go through the east door in D-10. Head down to the strange looking gate at H-9. There are 3 colours on the floor: White, Red and Black. Each mage must stand in the middle of each circle and the door will open. Once the door is opened, keep going past through the fake walls at H-8.

Wendigos there drop the test answers for "Making the Grade" quest. Go into the "Gate of Light" for a cutscene with the highest ranked cardians.

You might also have to bring three Rusty Daggers dropped from Wendigos.

Head back to Heaven's Tower to finish the mission.

You might need to make an Alliance for this quest, or get some help from some LS people.

You will need to talk to your town's leader after obtaining this lengthy mission (from the gate guard) but ALL towns will eventually direct you to their embassy in Ru'lude Gardens.

To prepare for this hard mission buy a map of Qufim in Low Jeuno, getting 2 parties to make an alliance if you are too low level, and finish "The Antique Collector" quest in Port Jeuno for the Map of Delkfutt's Tower. At least two people should have the Map of Delkfutt's Tower by trading a Kaiser Blade (drops from Weapons in Qufim) to Imasuke.

When ready head to Delkfutt's Tower in Qufim. There are 10 floors in the Tower divided in 3 parts linked by teleport. Make sure your magic users are aware that Magic Pots/Elements go aggressive when you cast!

After a lengthy climb (will take at least 1.5 hours), fight the NM giant Porphyrion. It will drop 6 Delkfutt keys each, so you will have to wait for it to respawn (10 mins).

When the whole alliance has a key, trade it to the elevator (H-8). Finally head to the tunnel to the east walk down a 9 flights of stairs down to the first floor. You will be in the basement. There will be 3 exits for which are based on allegiance (M-7, M-8, N-9). In each one is the Ambassador.

Go back to your Embassy in Ru'lude Gardens to receive your reward!

The are for stairs/teleports, and their rough cardinal direction.

1st Floor: E-6 (NW)
2nd Floor: I-9 (SE, deadend at H-9, so go east first)
3rd Floor: G-6 (or J-8, but I think that might be one way only)
4th Floor: I-6 (NE, deadends at G-7, H-9, J-9)
5th Floor: H-9 (S, deadend at I-10, so go west first)
6th Floor: J-10 (SE)
7th Floor: F-6 (NW)
8th Floor (1st time): I-6 (NE)
9th Floor (1st time): I-9 (SE, this sends you back to 8th floor)
8th Floor (2nd time): F-9 -> 9th Floor
9th Floor (2nd time): F-6 -> 10th Floor
10th Floor: Fight Mimas at H-7 and Porphyrion at H-8 for keys, then use elevator at H-8 (Note: beware of elementals that spawn under certain weather)

Basement: for ambassadors (use same key as elevator), M-7 Windurst, M-8 San d'Oria, L-9 Bastok, then use F-8 to go back to 1st floor and exit.

5-1

From Bastok this mission is called Darkness Rising.

From San d'Oria this mission is called Ruins of Fei'Yin.

The return of the Shadow Lord seems imminent, apparently. Head back to your hometown. when you speak to your mission NPC he will inform you that you are needed at Chateau d'Oraguille. After you arrive at the castle you will get a cutscene, its not over yet, you must speak with Halver before you can continue this mission, he will award you the seal of Fei'Yin (Note: if you cannot recieve seal, make sure your rank points are full, and try zoning out of the chateau then back and talking to Halver). This quest cannot be completed without the seal!

When ready start heading to Fei'Yin either by going through Ranguemont Pass, or by getting a Teleport-Vazhl if everyone in your party has the crystal.

(for those that dont have a map, when u get to Beaucedine, follow path north and east past the first tower and east-north more till u find the first down-ramp @ I-8, head down and go directly south and u will find another ramp at I-9, head down, this is the lowest lvl of Beaucedine. head east and then north u will pass another tower at J-8, continue heading north and inside Fei'Yin)

At Fei'Yin Tower head to the burning circle on K-8 of the first floor (where you entered). If you dont have a map just head east and south as much as possible. There are MANY MANY things that go aggressive to magic here. On the other hand, you only need SNEAK to run by EVERYTHING in this tower. When you arrive trade the seal to the BC when all 6 members are ready.

The boss is the Archlich Taber'quoan with 6-8 minions. Concentrate on the Archlich and once he is dead you are done. There is a level cap of 50 for the boss and only 6 people (one party) can enter at a time. However, you can help out when completed.

The Windurst Mission is called "The Shadow Awaits". You must speak with the Star Sybil after getting the mission from the guard.

Only one party may take part in this mission at a time.

It is recommended you finish the quest "Northward" from Radeivepart (Ru'lude Gardens, Peace Monument) for a map of Castle Zvahl.

After you have the mission intitated, head to Xarcabard, then Castle Zvahl Baileys. Make your way in to Castle Zvahl Keep. Beware, there are multiple types of beastmen on the way in, some which detect by sound and others by sight.

Once in the Keep, you will need to make your way through several gates and Ore doors to the teleporters. You should kill the demons around the teleporters to avoid trains of mobs. Once you have gone through all the teleporters you will enter the Throne Room. There are no mobs in this area so you can use this place to med and buff. Once that is done head across the bridge to the tower and open the door to the Throne Room where the tomb of the Shadow Lord lies.

The first Shadow Lord form will be immune to almost all forms of magic. He later becomes immune to physical damage and so you must finish him off with magic. After you kill him he will of course get upset and come at you again. He will do only AE attacks so make sure to use Curaga spells.

After you are done head back to your home town to collect your 20,000 gil reward and Rank 6.
